Rev. Swami Sarvarupanandaji Maharaj left for Jaffna on 22nd at 7.30 am and reached Thavady , Jaffna, at 4.30 pm.
He met the Government Agent of Jaffna on 23rd and discussed the plan of relief work.
GA has given the full particulars of the 12 refugee camps set up in Jaffna district. There are about 12000 IDPs in the camps.
To start the relief work , Swami has selected a Camp with 306 families (1320 members) for immediate distribution of relief materials and for providing spiritual support for the distressed.
They have planned to buy urgently needed relief materials (Food, Milk Powder, clothes, Oil, toothpaste, Soap, etc) from the Jaffna Market on 25th and 26th May 2009. Purchasing will be done with budget of LKR 3 Million (US$ 25000/-)
Depending on the family size and the need of the family, packing will be done on 27th in order to make the distribution easy.
Distribution will be on 28th & 29th directly to the refugees in the camps.

Volunteers of the Sri Ramakrishna Samity, Thavady, Jaffna, will provide needed help for the relief work.

INTERNALLY DISPLACED
Vavuniya: 25 camps, 255,000 people
Jaffna: 12 camps, 11,064 people
Mannar: Three camps, 845 people
Trincomalee: Two camps, 6,642 people
